The heritage and traditions of the sport are documented from the earliest races and the development of the rules of racing. It examines how, as the knowledge and traditions have developed over the years, it has grown into a sport of glorious achievement for the Irish in both Flat and National Hunt Racing.
The story of Irish racing is built around a journey through the Flat and National Hunt seasons, following leading trainers and taking a behind the scenes look at the sport. Viewers will follow the cycle of foaling, sales, training, racing and breeding with an emphasis on the unique human skills which have given Ireland a place among the leading racing nations.
As well as re-living some golden moments, such as ARKLE's triumph over MILL HOUSE in the 1964 Cheltenham Gold Cup, "In the Blood" offers a unique glimpse into the world of horse racing, showing behind the scenes archival footage and material that has never been aired before in addition to contributions from a host of insiders.
