BRITT: ACES AND KINGS OF THE TURF
A boom apprentice, Britt rode in eventful Melbourne Cups and with the likes of Jim Pike, Darby Munro, Andy Know and T.J. Smith. He went to India with Jim Munro, joining Billy Cook, and dominated Bombay racing for a decade while serving in a "jockey brigade" in World War II. Surviving flak on the way to the U.K., Britt won seven English Classics, three more than his great friend Scobie Breasley, while inflicting defeats on close pals Sir Gordon Richards and Rae "Togo" Johnstone.
On to the U.S., and Johnny Longden, Bing Crosby and Betty Grable. All this time, Britt had movie and "still" cameras at hand and now gives us his unique insight into the characters, color and traditions of the Turf.
