SANTA ANITA 75th ANNIVERSARY (1934-2009)

A retrospective of the rich history of Santa Anita Park on its 75th anniversary. This feature recounts the track’s storied past and provides an all-encompassing look back at the spectacular litany of unforgettable moments and memories from the “Great Race Place.”

A brief sampling of some of the racing greats that past through Santa Anita on their way to legendary status were AFFIRMED, JOHN HENRY, SILKY SULLIVAN, SEABISCUIT, ZENYATTA, NOOR, CITATION, SPECTACULAR BID, ALYSHEBA and FERDINAND, MAJESTIC PRINCE, SUNDAY SILENCE and WINNING COLORS in addition to famous jockeys Laffit Pincay, Jr., Bill Shoemaker, Johnny Longden and Gary Stevens. Trainers who ranked supreme include Charlie Whittingham, Bobby Frankel, Ron McAnally, D. Wayne Lukas, Bob Baffert, and Laz Barrera.
