FLAWLESSY's 1992 and 1993 MATRIARCH (Entire Televised Broadcasts)
FLAWLESSLY was North America's Eclipse Award winning distaff grass course champion in both 1992 and 1993 and repeated as a grade I winner on grass again at six in 1994. She was bred and raced by Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wolfson’s Harbor View Farm; she was an AFFIRMED filly from LA CONFIDENCE, a daughter of English Triple Crown winner, NIJINSKY II.
FLAWLESSLY was a promising stakes winner on the East Coast for trainer Dick Dutrow, and then was sent to the masterful trainer Charlie Whittingham in California. There she prevailed as the champion female on grass in both 1992 and 1993, following MIESQUE as only the second to have won the Eclipse Award twice in that division since its establishment in 1979.
In addition to being a model of consistency, FLAWLESSLY was the mistress of repetition. She won both the Gr. I Matriarch Stakes and Gr. I Ramona Handicap three times each among a total of nine Gr. I stakes victories. FLAWLESSLY was inducted into racing's Hall of Fame in 2004 in the Contemporary Female category, had a career record of sixteen wins in twenty-eight starts and earnings of $2,572,536.
Her championship campaigns included relatively few races, but they covered many months and were concentrated at the top level of competition. Along the way, FLAWLESSLY defeated champion HOLLYWOOD WILDCAT and New Zealand-bred star LET'S ELOPE, plus major winners KOSTROMA, TOUSSAUD, JOLYPHIA, FIRE THE GROOM, USER FRIENDLY and URBAN SEA.
FLAWLESSLY retired as a stakes winner on both coasts and in the Midwest. Her 16 victories included 15 stakes races, eleven of them in graded company, and nine of them Grade I.
Included in this very historic feature is the entire televised broadcasts of FLAWLESSLY's 1992 and 1993 Matriarch Stakes wins.
The field for the 1992 Matriarch included SPORADES, SUPER STAFF, CAMPAGNARDE, KOSTROMA, RE TOSS, FLAWLESSLY, LITE LIGHT, HYDRO CALIDO and LADY SHIRL.
The 1993 field was made up of a mixed bag of celebrity fillies lead off by the quirky and wickedly talented Bobby Frankel trained and Juddmonte Farms homebred TOUSSAUD (future dam of EMPIRE MAKER, CHESTER HOUSE, HONEST LADY, CHISELLING), SKIMBLE (future dam of SKIMMING), ALYSBELLE (full sister to 1988 Horse-of-the-Year ALYSHEBA), ELIZABETH BAY, MISS TURKANA and HERO'S LOVE.
A wonderful and nostalgic piece or racing history can be yours!
